During the epic battle of Ramayana, he single-handedly flew across the ocean, set Lanka ablaze to deliver Rama's message, and carried the Dronagiri mountain to retrieve the Sanjeevani herb, saving Lakshmana's life.

To defeat the demon Ahiravana, Hanuman assumed the form of Panchmukhi (five-faced): Hanuman (East - devotion), Narasimha (South - fearlessness), Garuda (West - prosperity), Varaha (North - victory), and Hayagriva (Skyward - wisdom).
पाताल लोक में अहिरावण का वध करने के लिए हनुमान जी ने पंचमुखी रूप धारण किया: पूर्व में हनुमान (भक्ति), दक्षिण में नरसिंह (निडरता), पश्चिम में गरुड़ (समृद्धि), उत्तर में वराह (विजय) और आकाश की ओर हयग्रीव (ज्ञान)।
